A total of 568 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Assam on Sunday (August 8).
The new cases were detected out of 58,728 tests that were conducted in the last 24 hours.
The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 0.97 per cent on Sunday.
The highest number of new cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (123), Lakhimpur (40), Jorhat (38) and Kamrup Rural (27).
Meanwhile, 15 more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the state.
According to a media bulletin by National Health Mission (NHM) Assam, the fresh fatalities were reported from Kamrup Metro (3), Golaghat (2), Baksa (1), Biswanath (1), Dhubri (1), Dibrugarh (1), Goalpara (1), Karimganj (1), Morigaon (1), Nagaon (1), Nalbari (1) and Sivasagar (1).
Further, 1,127 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 97.14 per cent.
Earlier on Saturday, 986 COVID-19 cases and 15 deaths were reported in the state with a case positivity rate of 0.83%.
According to data released by NHM, Assam on 8th August, 5,74,100 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State so far. Out of which, 5,57,654 patients have recovered, while 5,387 patients passed away.
The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 9,712.
Over 1.95 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.

As many as 1,24,22,010 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam so far. This includes 1,02,60,435 persons administered with the first dose and 21,61,575 administered both doses of the vaccine.
According to Cowin portal, on Sunday, 73,171 people were administered the COVID-19 vaccine in Assam.
