A total of 986 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Assam on Saturday (August 7).
The new cases were detected out of 1,18,902 tests that were conducted in the last 24 hours.
The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 0.83 per cent on Saturday.
The highest number of new cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (159), Barpeta (69), Nalbari (65) and Golaghat (54).
Meanwhile, 15 more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the state.
According to a media bulletin by National Health Mission (NHM) Assam, the fresh fatalities were reported from Golaghat (3), Biswanath (2), Jorhat (2), Nalbari (2), Baksa (1), Chirang (1), Dhemaji (1), Karbi Anglong (1), Karimganj (1) and Kokrajhar (1).
Further, 1,057 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 97.04 per cent.
Earlier on Friday, 975 COVID-19 cases and 14 deaths were reported in the state with a case positivity rate of 0.85%.
According to data released by NHM, Assam on 7th August, 5,73,532 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State so far. Out of which, 5,56,527 patients have recovered, while 5,372 patients passed away.
The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 10,286.
Over 1.95 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.

As many as 1,23,39,414 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam so far. This includes 1,01,89,217 persons administered with the first dose and 21,50,197 administered both doses of the vaccine.
According to Cowin portal, on Saturday, 2,46,331 people were administered the COVID-19 vaccine in Assam.
