India recorded 46,164 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the highest in nearly two months, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,25,58,530, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday (August 26).
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.58%. The daily positivity rate has been less than 3% for the last 31 days.
The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 2.02%, less than 3% for the last 62 days.
The death toll climbed to 4,36,365 with 607 new fatalities.
Further, 34,159 recoveries were recorded on Wednesday. With this, the total number of recoveries has reached 3,17,88,440 and the recovery rate has improved to 97.63%.
India also witnessed an increase of 11,398 cases in the active COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours.
The active cases have increased to 3,33,725, comprising 1.03% of the total infections.
In the last 24 hours, Kerala reports 31,445 new COVID-19 cases with test positivity rate in the state rising to 19.03%. A day before Kerala reported 24,296 cases.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 51,31,29,378 samples has been tested for COVID-19, up to August 25, out of these, 17,87,283 samples were tested on Wednesday.
According to the Union Health Ministry, as many as 60.38 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered so far since the commencement of the vaccination drive on January 16.
