A total of 555 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Assam on Tuesday (August 24).
The new cases were detected out of 94,002 tests that were conducted in the last 24 hours.
The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 0.59 per cent on Tuesday.
The highest number of new cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (71), Golaghat (46), Jorhat (38) and Sonitpur (35).
Meanwhile, 13 more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the state.
According to a media bulletin by National Health Mission (NHM) Assam, the fresh fatalities were reported from Karbi Anglong (2), Baksa (1), Charaideo (1), Dibrugarh (1), Goalpara (1), Golaghat (1), Lakhimpur (1), Morigaon (1), Nagaon (1), Nalbari (1), Sonitpur (1) and Udalguri (1).
Further, 532 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 97.68 per cent.
Earlier on Monday, 700 COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths were reported in the state with a case positivity rate of 0.74%.
According to data released by NHM, Assam on 24th August, 5,85,689 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State so far. Out of which, 5,72,084 patients have recovered, while 5,600 patients passed away.
The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 6,658.
Over 2.11 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.

As many as 1,60,87,117 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam so far. This includes 1,32,39,384 persons administered with the first dose and 28,47,733 administered both doses of the vaccine.
In the last 24 hours, 2,52,946 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the state.
