Several Key Decisions Taken In Assam Cabinet On August 11: Check Details

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday (August 11) chaired a cabinet meeting at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati where several key decisions were taken.

The following decisions were taken in the meeting of the Assam Council of Ministers:

1. 8,855 technical posts to be filled up in the Health sector: Doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, among others, to be recruited.

The recruitment process to start from September.

2. Dearness Allowance (DA) of State Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) of pensioners increased by 11% from the existing 17% to 28% with financial outgo of Rs 195 crore per month.

This increase will be effective from July 1, 2021.

3. Attendance will be regularised for all state government employees who were on leave before March 20, 2020 and could not join back due to Covid restrictions.

4. Transport Department & Skill Development Department to jointly impart a 45-day driving training to upskill 50 youth from each constituency.

Post training, Government will provide driving license and 1 lakh subsidy for purchasing commercial passenger vehicles.

As per the Cabinet, altogether 6,600 youth will be benefited.

5. State Government to request Central Government to replace the word “Lalung”, enlisted as sub-tribe in ST, with “Tiwa”.
