Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (July 13) expressed concerns over crowds gathering in hill stations and violating of Covid norms.

PM Modi’s warning comes at a time when several videos have emerged from the popular hill stations in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand where large crowds have been seen travelling while ignoring Covid protocols.

Reviewing the COVID-19 situation with the Chief Minister of Northeast states, he said that there is a need to work together to stop the third wave and called for ramping up the vaccination.

“It is a matter of concern that people are travelling without face masks at hill stations and market places,” PM Modi said.

“To combat the possible third wave of Covid-19, we need to continue to accelerate the vaccination process,” he added.

“The number of Covid-19 cases is rising. We need to take strict action to curb the situation at the micro-level. We need to keep an eye on Covid variants, experts are studying them. We need to encourage people to follow Covid-19 appropriate behaviour,” said PM Modi.

“Further impetus needed on vaccination in areas with a higher risk of COVID-19 virus spread, PM Modi tells chief ministers of eight northeast states.
