The seventh cabinet meeting of the newly formed Assam government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was held on Wednesday (June 30) at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati where several key decisions were taken.
The following decisions were taken in the meeting of the Assam Council of Ministers:
1. Armed battalion personnel from Constable till Sub-Inspector rank staying in battalions to get one month compulsory leave to visit their homes. Those living with families in quarters to get 10 days leave every year.
2. Transportation commission paid to fair price shops and cooperative socities hiked from Rs 100.10 to Rs 143 per quintal of rice under NFSA.
a. For the first time, each of 860 cooperative socities in Assam to get Rs 5 lakh per year for using godowns and other sources.
b. Transportation contracts for carrying commodities from FCI godown etc will be given, preferably to cooperatives.
3. MLA Padma Hazarika currently heading the committee for utilising 77,000 bighas of land for agricultural purpose at Gorukhuti, Sipajhar, to be given Cabinet Rank for effectively carrying out his responsibilities.
4. Information Technology (IT) Department instructed to set up mobile towers to enhance connectivity in rural areas, especially for benefit of students in their online education.
5. Ministers Chandra Mohan Patowary, Atul Bora and Dr. Ranoj Pegu have been entrusted with the responsibility to ensure implementation of cabinet decisions and inform the cabinet about the implementation status.
