Sikkim CM Announces 1-Year Maternity Leave & 1-Month Paternity Leave For Teachers

The Sikkim government has decided to grant one year maternity leave and one month paternity leave for the teachers.

This was announced by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang Golay on the occasion of Children’s Day on Sunday (November 14).

CM Golay on Sunday attended Children’s Day celebrations held at Saramsa Garden in Ranipool, where state awards were given to teachers for their contributions and achievements.

The Chief Minister said that the Sikkim government has decided to start computer education from the 5th standard and will appoint computer literacy instructors.

“Similarly, we have also decided to provide one-year maternity leave and one-month paternity leave for the teachers,” CM Golay said.

He also announced that vehicles will be provided to four principals, one each in the existing districts in the initial stage from the upcoming financial year.

The Chief Minister also launched the online portals for the Sikkim Teachers Eligibility Test (STET), the National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) Bharat, the Sikkim Chapter, the Private School Registration Portal and AAGAZ (Covid-19 school readiness projects).

During the event, teachers were also presented with State Prizes 2021, as well as honourable awards for excellent students and teachers.

Similarly, teachers bestowed with the National award 2021 were also presented with mementos and cash prizes.
