COVID-19 Update: 269 New Cases Reported In Assam

A total of 269 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Assam on Saturday (October 16).

Among the new cases, the highest number of cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (61), Barpeta (33), Jorhat (27) and Golaghat (20).

The new cases were detected out of 32,791 tests that were conducted during the day.

The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 0.82% per cent on Saturday.

Meanwhile, five more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the state.

According to a media bulletin by National Health Mission (NHM) Assam, the fresh fatalities were reported from Bongaigaon (2), Dhemaji (1), Golaghat (1) and Nalbari (1).

Further, 290 patients recovered on Saturday. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 98.45 per cent.

Earlier on Friday, 147 COVID-19 cases were reported in the state including 63 cases from Kamrup Metro district.

The Kamrup Metropolitan district, which primarily comprises the Guwahati city, has reported 885 new COVID-19 cases in the last 10 days.

According to data released by NHM, Assam on 14th October, 6,06,263 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State so far. Out of which, 5,96,837 patients have recovered, while 5,944 patients passed away.

The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 2,135.

Over 2.41 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.

As many as 2,62,78,917 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam so far. This includes 1,97,14,618 persons administered with the first dose and 65,64,299 administered both doses of the vaccine.
