An earthquake of magnitude 3.8 on the Richter scale jolted Assam on Sunday (October 3) afternoon.
According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the tremors were felt at 2:40 pm.
The quake was recorded at a depth of 5 km, on latitude 26.68 and longitude 92.44 with its epicentre at Tezpur in Assam.

There were no reports of any loss of life or damage to property due to the earthquake.
