A total of 554 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Assam on Thursday (September 2).
The new cases were detected out of 84,246 tests that were conducted in the last 24 hours.
The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 0.66 per cent on Thursday.
The highest number of new cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (157), Golaghat (60), Jorhat (40) and Lakhimpur (24).
Meanwhile, 6 more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the state.
According to a media bulletin by National Health Mission (NHM) Assam, the fresh fatalities were reported from Barpeta (2), Baksa (1), Chirang (1), Golaghat (1), and Sivasagar (1).
Further, 567 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 97.89 per cent.
Earlier on Wednesday, 573 COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths were reported in the state with a case positivity rate of 0.72%.
According to data released by NHM, Assam on 2nd September, 5,90,553 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State so far. Out of which, 5,78,101 patients have recovered, while 5,677 patients passed away.
The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 5,677.
Over 2.18 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.

As many as 1,78,85,109 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam so far. This includes 1,46,80,059 persons administered with the first dose and 32,05,050 administered both doses of the vaccine.
