A total of 293 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Assam on Sunday (August 29).
The new cases were detected out of 39,337 tests that were conducted in the last 24 hours.
The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 0.74 per cent on Sunday.
The highest number of new cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (74), Jorhat (28), Sivasagar (23) and Nalbari (21).
Meanwhile, four more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the state.
According to a media bulletin by National Health Mission (NHM) Assam, the fresh fatalities were reported from Cachar (1), Hojai (1), Kamrup Metro (1) and Udalguri districts.
Further, 674 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 97.84 per cent.
Earlier on Saturday, 586 COVID-19 cases and nine deaths were reported in the state with a case positivity rate of 0.69%.
According to data released by NHM, Assam on 29th August, 5,88,318 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State so far. Out of which, 5,75,629 patients have recovered, while 5,640 patients passed away.
The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 5,702.
Over 2.15 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.

As many as 1,71,08,172 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam so far. This includes 1,40,66,744 persons administered with the first dose and 30,41,428 administered both doses of the vaccine.
In the last 24 hours, 72,771 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the state.
