IMD Issues Orange Alert For Heavy Rain In Assam, Meghalaya & Arunachal Pradesh

The Northeastern states – Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall at many places over the next few days, according to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD has also issued an orange alert for the three states stating that there would be heavy rainfall from August 24.

The Orange alert urges residents to be prepared for rough conditions. However, the advisory level may get upgraded further if the weather conditions intensify.

According to IMD, fairly widespread to widespread rains with isolated heavy falls are very likely to continue over Northeast India until Tuesday (August 24).

Thereafter, the intensity of the rainfall is set to increase, with isolated very heavy falls expected to lash Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya between Tuesday (August 24) to Friday (August 27).

Further, Assam and Meghalaya likely to witness isolated extremely heavy falls on Wednesday (August 25).
