A total of 713 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Assam on Wednesday (August 19).
The new cases were detected out of 96,200 tests that were conducted in the last 24 hours.
The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 0.74 per cent on Thursday.
The highest number of new cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (136), Golaghat (52), Lakhimpur (48) and Barpeta (41).
Meanwhile, 10 more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the state.
According to a media bulletin by National Health Mission (NHM) Assam, the fresh fatalities were reported from Dibrugarh (2), Jorhat (2), Kamrup Metro (2), Chirang (1), Golaghat (1), Kamrup Rural (1) and Sonitpur (1).
Further, 779 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 97.63 per cent.
Earlier on Wednesday, 639 COVID-19 cases and 15 deaths were reported in the state with a case positivity rate of 0.77%.
According to data released by NHM, Assam on 19th August, 5,82,750 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State so far. Out of which, 5,68,916 patients have recovered, while 5,538 patients passed away.
The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 6,949.
Over 2.07 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.

As many as 1,51,79,471 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam so far. This includes 1,25,29,471 persons administered with the first dose and 26,50,237 administered both doses of the vaccine.
