Less Than 700 New COVID-19 Cases Reported In Assam

A total of 639 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Assam on Wednesday (August 18).

The new cases were detected out of 83,282 tests that were conducted in the last 24 hours.

The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 0.77 per cent on Tuesday.

The highest number of new cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (109), Barpeta (65), Golaghat (40) and Dibrugarh (33).

Meanwhile, 15 more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the state.

According to a media bulletin by National Health Mission (NHM) Assam, the fresh fatalities were reported from Barpeta (2), Jorhat (2), Lakhimpur (2), Sonitpur (2), Biswanath (1), Golaghat (1), Hojai (1), Kamrup Rural (1), Morigaon (1), Nagaon (1) and Tinsukia (1).

Further, 1,024 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 97.61 per cent.

Earlier on Tuesday, 741 COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths were reported in the state with a case positivity rate of 0.73%.

According to data released by NHM, Assam on 18th August, 5,82,037 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State so far. Out of which, 5,68,137 patients have recovered, while 5,528 patients passed away.

The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 7,025.

Over 2.06 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.

As many as 1,49,69,995 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam so far. This includes 1,23,58,690 persons administered with the first dose and 26,11,305 administered both doses of the vaccine.
