Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday (August 14) laid foundation stone of ‘Nature Park’ at Assam Khadi and Village Industries Board campus at Hengrabari in Guwahati.
The park will be built by Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) on a plot of more than 14 bighas for a total cost of Rs 11.93 crore.
There would be a watchtower, cafeteria, playing area for children, meditation centre, nursery, etc in the park.
CM Sarma said that the park would provide recreational opportunities while fulfilling the need of open space in Guwahati.
He also informed that a Botanical Garden will be built at oil jail campus in Fancy Bazar and a park is being built at Maligaon Housing Board site.
Minister for the Department of Housing & Urban Affairs and Irrigation Ashok Singhal, MP Queen Oja, MLA Atul Bora were also present on the occasion.
