A total of 1,067 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Assam on Thursday (August 5).
The new cases were detected out of 1,31,862 tests that were conducted in the last 24 hours.
The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 0.81 per cent on Thursday.
The highest number of new cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (202), Golaghat (76), Lakhimpur (72) and Sivasagar (70).
Meanwhile, 17 more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the state.
According to a media bulletin by National Health Mission (NHM) Assam, the fresh fatalities were reported from Kamrup Metro (3), Biswanath (2), Nalbari (2), Tinsukia (2), Bongaigaon (1), Dhemaji (1), Dibrugarh (1), Golaghat (1), Jorhat (1), Kamrup Rural (1), Nagaon (1) and Sonitpur (1).
Further, 1,249 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 96.96 per cent.
Earlier on Wednesday, 1,065 COVID-19 cases and 19 deaths were reported in the state with a case positivity rate of 0.89%.
According to data released by NHM, Assam on 5th August, 5,71,571 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State so far. Out of which, 5,54,204 patients have recovered, while 5,343 patients passed away.
The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 10,677.
Over 1.93 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.
As many as 1,18,37,730 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam so far. This includes 97,56,712 persons administered with the first dose and 20,81,018 administered both doses of the vaccine.
