Guwahati: Ropeway Service Resumes After Two & Half Months Of Closure

The Guwahati-North Guwahati ropeway service resumed on Thursday (July 22) after two and half months of closure.

The ropeway service was closed on May 6 this year due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) in a notification said that the ropeway services will remain active from 8 am to 5:30 pm in strict compliance with all COVID-19 protocols.

However, the ticket price has been increased as it will run with 50% passengers.

The price for a one-way ticket has been increased from Rs 60 to Rs 100, and the two-way ticket has been hiked from Rs 100 to Rs 150.

The weekly fee for using the Ropeway service has been fixed at Rs 2,000, monthly Rs 6,000, and annually Rs 50,000.

For passengers between the age of 3 to 12 years and senior citizens above 60 years of age, fares have been reduced by 50%.

The ropeway service is free for specially-abled passengers.
