Sourav Ganguly Confirms His Biopic, Keen To Cast Ranbir Kapoor As The Lead

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has given a nod to a biopic inspired from his glorious life as a cricketer.

Speaking to News18, Ganguly confirmed that he has agreed for the Bollywood film inspired from his life.

“Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to say the name of the director now. It will take a few more days for arranging everything,” Ganguly told News18.

The former cricketer has reportedly recommended Ranbir Kapoor to play his role in the movie, while there are two other actors also on the list.

Sourav Ganguly’s journey from being the Indian captain to the BCCI president will be immortalized in this movie.

As per the report, the biopic is being made under a big banner-production house with a budget of around Rs 200 to Rs 250 crore being earmarked for the film.

Previously, biopic on MS Dhoni was a super hit with Sushant Singh Rajput essaying the role of the captain cool while Emraan Hashmi starrer ‘Azhar’ was a biopic on former Indian cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin.

Currently, a movie is being made about India’s 1983 World Cup victory, where Ranveer Singh is playing the role of former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev.

Taapsee Pannu will also be seen essaying the role of Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj in her biopic ‘Shabaash Mithu’. Anushka Sharma will also reportedly essay the role of Jhulan Goswami in her biopic, however, an official announcement of the same is yet to be made.
