Assam: 2,644 New COVID-19 Cases, 21 Deaths Reported In Last 24 Hours

A total of 2,644 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Assam on Thursday (July 8).

The new cases were detected out of 1,06,760 tests that were conducted in the last 24 hours.

On Thursday, the test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 2.48 per cent.

The highest number of new cases were reported from Lakhimpur (285), Golaghat (280), Sonitpur (173) and Kamrup Metro (168).

Meanwhile, 21 more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the state.

According to a media bulletin by National Health Mission (NHM) Assam, the fresh fatalities were reported from Dibrugarh (3), Jorhat (3), Sonitpur (3), Biswanath (2), Karbi Anglong (2), Sivasagar (2) and one each from Kamrup Metro, Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Nalbari and Tinsukia district.

Further, 2,946 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 94.72 per cent.

Earlier on Wednesday, 2,289 COVID-19 cases and 26 deaths were reported in the state with a case positivity rate of 2.25%.

According to data released by NHM, Assam on July 8, 5,27,200 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State so far. Out of which, 4,99,388 patients have recovered, while 4,764 patients passed away.

The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 21,701.

Over 1.57 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.

As many as 77,30,332 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam so far. This includes 64,09,358 persons administered with the first dose and 13,20,974 administered both doses of the vaccine.
