Several Key Decisions Taken In Assam Cabinet On July 7: Check Details

The eight cabinet meeting of the newly formed Assam government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was held on Wednesday (July 7) at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati where several key decisions were taken.

The following decisions were taken in the meeting of the Assam Council of Ministers:

1. Protocol for Govt functions/meetings:

i. The government function will start with the state anthem ‘O Mur Apunar Dekh’ and will end with national anthem.

ii. Only hand-woven gamosas to be used in government functions and programmes.

iii. Traditional food will be served at government programmes to empower local self-help groups.

2. Karmachari Divas:

i. The death anniversary of Gopinath Bordoloi on August 5 will be observed as ‘Karmachari Divas’.

ii. Non-gazatted employees – 5 from each district and 10 in state level – to be awarded on the occasion.

iii. Awarded employees to get 1-year service extension after retirement.

3. Deshbhakti Divas:

i. The death anniversary of Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan on July 28 will be observed as ‘Deshbhakta Divas’ across the state.

4. Teachers Eligibility Test (TET):

i. The validity of TET certificate to be extended for lifetime and upper age limit to apply in recruitment.

ii. TET-qualified candidates can appear in betterment exam.

5. Power Bills:

i. All Government employees have to clear their pending electricity bills till July.

ii. NOC about clearance of bills to be submitted.

iii. No NOC required for regular payment of bills after this month.

6. Guardian Ministers:

i. Guardian ministers and sectretaries to pay 3-day visit to seven districts under containment.
