Several Key Decisions Taken In Assam Cabinet On June 24: Check Details

The sixth cabinet meeting of the newly formed Assam government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was held on Thursday (June 24) at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati where several key decisions were taken.

The following decisions were taken in the meeting of the Assam Council of Ministers:

1. Home Guard Borsing Bey, who refused a huge bribe amount from drug dealers and helped recover drugs of total value Rs 12 crore, will be appointed as Constable in Assam Police.

2. Deputy Commissioners will be empowered to allot land for government institutions in rural areas on the basis of recommendations of Land Acquisition Committees. Accordingly, from now onwards, no file on such matters is required to be sent to the Revenue Department.

3. Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) cum Head of Forest Forces (HoFF) will be empowered to take a decision regarding payment of compensation to families of victims of man-elephant conflict, as per the recommendation of the Divisional Forest Officer. No file on such matters is required to be sent to the Forest & Environment Department.

4. Oil companies like OIL, ONGC, etc will have to pay a minimum of Rs 12 lakh per bigha for private land acquisition within a 10 km radius of the town, and Rs 10 lakh per bigha for land acquisition outside the 10 km radius of the town.

5. The incentives that had been announced earlier for waiving micro-finance loans have been approved by the Cabinet.
