Taking strong note of the unexpected turn of events at Mother Old Age Home located at Hatigaon in Guwahati, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday (June 24) ordered a probe into the latest developments.

The old age home was founded in 2012 by Utpal Harshavardhan and Monica Sharma.

In the last few days, disputes between two of the founders brought uncertainty into the lives of the elderly living at Mother Old Age Home.

Chief Minister Sarma directed the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro to inquire into the unseemly circumstances and submit a report within 72 hours.

The Chief Minister also asked the Social Welfare Minister Ajanta Neog to personally monitor the entire development and take appropriate steps accordingly.

After the chief minister’s direction, Ajanta Neog on Thursday afternoon visited the old age home to take stock of the conflict that arose between the co-founders of the shelter home.

“As directed by HCM @himantabiswa, I visited the ‘Mother Old age Home’ at Hatigaon and discussed the recent management issue with the in-charge Utpal & Monika,” Neog wrote on Twitter.

“Directed them to settle the situation and work together. The further state government also ensured to support them,” she added.
