Several Key Decisions Taken In Assam Cabinet On June 16: Check Details

The fifth cabinet meeting of the newly formed Assam government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was held on Wednesday (June 16) at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati where several key decisions were taken.

The following decisions were taken in the meeting of the Assam Council of Ministers:

1. Four new Forensic Laboratories will be set up, one each at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh, Silchar Medical College and Hospital SMCH), Tezpur Medical College and Hospital (TMCH) and Bongaigaon Civil Hospital.

2. Social Welfare Department will be empowered to procure rice directly from Food Corporation of India (FCI) for Supplementary Nutrition Programme under ICDS to reduce costs.

3. Cabinet approved the statutes of Madhabdev University at Narayanpur, Bhattadev University at Bajali, Pathsala, Birangana Sati Sadhani State University at Golaghat and Rabindranath Tagore University at Hojai.

4. Final decision regarding HSLC, High Madrassa and HS final year examinations will be taken on June 18 in a meeting between Edu Dept & various other stakeholders.

It was recommended by the Cabinet not to allow the exams due to prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation in the state.

5. It further decided that home isolation will not be allowed to any COVID-19 patient who does not have a separate facility at home for the same.
