Tarzan Actor Joe Lara Dies At The Age Of 58 In Plane Crash

Actor Joe Lara, the star of the famous adventure movie ‘Tarzan: The Epic Adventures’ has passed away in a plane crash in Tennessee.

The actor was with his wife and a few others when the private jet crashed into a lake on Saturday (May 29).

He was 58 years old.

According to a report in TMZ, the private jet Cessna 501 took off from Smyrna Airport on Saturday towards Palm Beach.

However, on the way, it crashed into Percy Priest Lake soon after the takeoff.

After the accident, fire and other rescue teams were sent to the scene but, after an all-night operation, authorities told TMZ that the passengers were killed in the accident.

Meanwhile, investigation is underway to determine the cause behind the plane crash.

According to TMZ, there was a total of seven people in the plane and none of the passengers survived the accident. Joe Lara was with his wife Gwen Lara and others were reported to be locals.

Joe Lara and Gwen Lara have left behind three children.

Lara played Tarzan in the 1989 television movie “Tarzan in Manhattan.” He later starred in the television series “Tarzan: The Epic Adventures,” which ran from 1996-1997.

He also starred in Steel Frontier, Sunset Heat, Gunsmoke: The Last Apache, American Cyborg: Steel Warrior, The Magnificent Seven, Baywatch and Tropical Heat and more.

His wife Gwen Shamblin Lara, whom he married in 2018, was the leader of a Christian weight-loss group called Weigh Down Ministries.
