IIT Guwahati Placement 2021: Student Bags Highest Package Of 70 Lakh, Average Package Higher Than Last Year

The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G) Placement 2021 was concluded successfully through virtual mode.

The institute has successfully placed 686 of its students through a virtual campus placement drive for the academic year 2020-21.

The highest package offered this year is Rs 70 lakh per annum.

“Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the pay packages offered to IIT-Guwahati students has increased during the 2020-21 academic year,” head of the IIT’s Centre for Career Development, Abhishek Kumar said.

The average salary offered to B.Tech and B.Des students increased to Rs 21.42 lakh per annum during the 2020-21 academic year compared to Rs 20.62 lakh per annum last year, he said.

Similarly, the compensation offered to M.Tech and M.Des students went up to Rs 17.92 lakh per annum compared to Rs 16.22 lakh per annum.

As many as 444 (inclusing PPO) out of 584 students from B.Tech and B.Des got job offers during IIT Guwahati Placement 2021.

A total of 140 companies had taken part in the recruitment process.

Microsoft, Google, Qualcomm, Oracle, American Express, DE Shaw, Enphase, Nutanix, Walmart, Adobe, Goldman Sachs, and IBM recruited the most number of students.

While the institute also saw increased recruitment from several prominent start-ups such as Ally.io, Gainsight, Harness, Thought sport, Chalo, Razorpay, Qure.ai, and Groww.

Job profiles such as IT/Software, Finance, Analyst, Core Engineering, and Design were offered by the employers. The students of IIT Guwahati were even placed in two Public Sector Undertakings (PSU) this year.

The maximum offers were made from the information technology and software sector and the highest package offered is Rs 70 lakh per annum, Kumar said.

“Students from Computer Science and Engineering got the highest number of offers, followed by Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering,” he said.
