Several Key Decisions Taken In Assam Cabinet On May 19: Check Details

The second cabinet meeting of the newly formed Assam government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was held on Wednesday (May 19) at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati where several important decisions were taken.

The following decisions were taken in the meeting of the Assam Council of Ministers:

1. To avert Oxygen crisis in Assam, the following decisions were taken in Cabinet:

i. If any new Oxygen plant is set up, State Government would provide 100% free power supply.

ii. For reviving closed Oxygen plants, 100% free power would be provided.

iii. In case of expansion of existing plant, the new unit would be given free power.

iv. All existing Oxygen plants would be given 20% free power.

v. All these decisions would come into effect from January 1, 2021 but financial implications would be from April 1, 2021.

2. The Chief Executive Members of Bodoland Territorial Region, Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao would be accorded Cabinet status.

3. The nomenclature of in-charge minister would be changed to Guardian Minister who would take responsibility of their respective districts.

4. The Cabinet also decided to appoint Devajit Lon Saikia as the new Advocate General of Assam.

Earlier, after the formation of the new government, the Chief Minister said that a cabinet meeting will be held every Wednesday.
