Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said that the state has over five lakhs doses of Covid-19 vaccine in stock.
The state has 3.25 lakh doses of the Serum Institute of India’s Covishield vaccine and two lakh doses of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin in stock.
The minister also said that another batch of one lakh Covaxin doses will also arrive in the state soon.
He also urged all eligible persons to get their vaccines at the earliest.
“As of now we have the following stocks: 1. Covishield – 3.25 lakh dose; 2. Covaxin – 2 lakh dose. Another batch of about one lakh Covaxin dose will arrive in a day or two. I request everyone eligible to please go in for your vaccination,” Sarma said in a tweet.

The fresh supply comes at a time when the state has expedited its vaccination process amid a spike in Covid-19 cases.
Reportedly, Assam had been facing a shortage of Covid-19 vaccines. Many people, including those due for their second vaccine doses, earlier complained they were returned from vaccine centres.
Meanwhile, 573 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the state on Friday.
