Several Key Decisions Taken In Assam Cabinet On February 20: Check Details

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday, February 20, chaired a meeting of the Assam Council of Ministers (CoM) in Guwahati where several important decisions were taken.

The following decisions were taken in the meeting of the Assam Council of Ministers:

1. The CoM approved creation of Bodoland Administrative Staff College.

2. The CoM approved rules made for service condition and eligibility for members & member-secretaries of Assam Pollution Control Board.

3. The CoM approved regularisation of 580 High School teachers.

4. The CoM approved amendment of Assam Municipal Board Act to provide for 18 months (in place of 12 months) for conducting elections.

5. The CoM allotted 239 bighas of land to Srimanta Sankardev University at Hatichung, Nagaon.

6. The CoM allotted 1 katha land at Ulubari, Guwahati to the NGO, Dipak Sangha.

7. The CoM approved service conditions for 101 vocational teachers in 57 schools.

8. The CoM amended the Guwahati Master Plan 2025 in three places – North Guwahati, Uzanbazar and 6 lane bridge at Bharalumukh.

9. The CoM allotted 10 bighas of land to the Brahma Kumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya.

10. The CoM approved purchase of 8,000 wheelchairs for the conduct of the upcoming general elections. These chairs will be distributed to other departments for use after the elections.

11. The CoM gave in-principle approval for regularisation of contractual employees of ASDMA.

12. The CoM directed concerned minister to take steps for extension of service rules to contractual employees of P&RD Dept who have completed 10 years of service.

13. In a major decision, the CoM decided to increase wage of Tea Garden workers from Rs 167/day to Rs 217/day. Further, Rs 101/day has been agreed for ration etc.

14. For equal wages of small Tea Garden workers, the CoM has constituted an one-man committee under Principal Secretary, Dr. JB Ekka (IAS).
