Several Key Decisions Taken In Assam Cabinet Today: Check Details

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday, February 10, chaired a meeting of the Assam Council of Ministers (CoM) at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati where several important decisions were taken.

The following decisions were taken in the meeting of the Assam Council of Ministers:

1. The CoM approved extension of service benefits to 1,653 employees of Municipal Boards. All of them will be now contractual employees under UDD.

2. The CoM approved allotment of land to various NGOs and organisations including Guwahati Press Club, Karunadhara, Jatiya Swahid Pariyal Samannaya Rakhi Parishad and Assam Anuchusit Jati Safai Karmachari Parishad.

3. The CoM gave approval for a new campus of the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Dibrugarh.

4. The CoM approved Energy Conservation building code for the state. All commercial buildings will have to abide by these regulations.

5. The CoM approved the Cyber Security Policy for the state.

6. The CoM approved amendment to the Integrated Sports Policy for the State providing for appointment to medal winners of Olympics, Asian Games, CWG (Class 1) and medal winners of World Championships senior (Class 2) officers.

7. Hima Das will be appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police.

8. The CoM approved establishment of Bodoland and 6th Schedule Areas Administrative Staff College.

9. The CoM approved renaming of the Hills Areas Department as Assam Sixth Schedule Council Department.

10. Giving a major relief to consumers, the CoM decided to provide free electricity in all households for consumption of upto 30 units a month.

11. The CoM decided to start the Mini Secretariat in Barak Valley (Silchar) with 6 departments: Personnel, R &DM, GAD, Agriculture, Fisheries, AH&V Dept.
