Assam has completed 5.5 million (55 lakh) COVID-19 tests since February 2020.
According to data shared by Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, from February 7, 2020 when the virus threat emerged, till December 8, 2020, Assam has conducted 55 lakh COVID-19 tests, at an average of 5 lakh tests per month.
“My salute to our health workers and officials. Together, we re determined to fight the pandemic,” Sarma said in a tweet.

On Wednesday, 146 new COVID-19 cases were detected in the State and 178 patients were discharged on the same day. While one person succumbed to the disease.
So far, 2,14,165 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State. Out of which, 2,09,622 patients have recovered, while 998 patients passed away and three patients migrated.
The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 3,542.
