COVID-19: Two More Deaths Reported In Assam On Thursday; Toll Rises To 24

Assam registered two more COVID-19 related deaths on Thursday, taking the COVID-19 fatality tally in the state to 24.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that two COVID-19 patients – 70-year-old Prosnna Kumar Haloi of Beltola Guwahati and 56-year-old Ramsingh Hanse of Karbi Anglong, who was admitted in COVID ICU of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), succumbed to their critical infections on Thursday morning.

Both the patient were on invasive ventilation.

“Very sad to inform that 2 more #COVID19 + patients Sri Prosnna Kumar Haloi (70) of Beltola, Guwahati and Sri Ramsingh Hanse (56) of Karbianglong admitted in GMCH Covid ICU succumbed to their critical infections this morning. Both were on invasive ventilation. My condolences,” Sarma said in a tweet.

Earlier on Wednesday, Assam recorded the highest number of single-day COVID-19 casualties. Six patients succumbed to the infection on Wednesday.

So far, 14,032 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Assam. Out of which, 8,726 patients have recovered, while 24 patients passed away and three patients migrated.

The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 5,279.

Over 4.9 lakh COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.
