Weekend Lockdown To Be Imposed In All Towns & Municipalities Of Assam

Due to the large scale spread of COVID-19 in Guwahati, the Assam government has decided to enforce complete lockdown in Kamrup Metro District from 7 PM on June 28 till 6 PM of July 12.

Besides, the state government has also decided to impose weekend lockdown in the rest of the state from June 27 except Kamrup (Metro) district.

The weekend lockdown will be enforced in all areas falling under the jurisdiction of town committees and municipalities across Assam until further orders.

“District Magistrate of all districts will promulgate necessary orders for “Total Lockdown” of all Municipal and Town Committee areas under their jurisdiction on all Saturdays and Sunday with effect from 27th June 2020 until further orders,” said the latest order signed by Assam chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna.

The Assam government has also imposed night curfew across the state and directed the district magistrates of all other districts of the state to enforce a total prohibition of movement of persons between 7 pm to 7 am in all areas of their respective jurisdiction from June 27.

So far, 6,646 COVID-19 cases reported in Assam. Out of which, 4,033 patients have recovered, while nine patients passed away and three patients migrated. The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 2,601.
