NIRF India Ranking 2020: IIT Guwahati among Top 10 Educational Institutes in India

HRD Minister Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal released the National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF) Ranking 2020 on Thursday listing the top institutes and universities in India this year.

In the list of Best Engineering Institutions of India, IIT Guwahati has retained its 7th position with a score of (74.90) whereas, in the overall ranking, IIT Guwahati moved upwards to the 7th position with a score of (68.81) from its 9th position in 2019.

Here’s is the list of top ten Institutes of India:

1. IIT Madras
2. IISc Bangalore
3. IIT Delhi
4. IIT Bombay
5. IIT Kharagpur
6. IIT Kanpur
7. IIT Guwahati
8. Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi
9. IIT Roorkee
10. Banaras Hindu University

Four institutions from Assam find its place in the list of Top 100 overall ranking: IIT Guwahati – 7th position, Tezpur University – 65th position, Gauhati University – 72th position and NIT Silchar – 94th position.

In the list of Top 100 University – Tezpur University ranked 39, Gauhati University ranked 47 and Dibrugarh University ranked 84.

In the list of Top 200 Engineering Institutions – IIT Guwahati ranked 7, NIT Silchar ranked 46 and IIIT Guwahati ranked 66.

In the list of Top 75 Pharmacy Ranking – National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Guwahati ranked 11, Dibrugarh University ranked 35 and Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, Guwahati ranked 72.

In the Law Ranking – National Law University and Judicial Academy, Kamrup ranked 16.

The top institutes and universities of India are judged on the basis of certain predetermined factors for the NIRF Rankings. These include — Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI), Peer Perception.

Each of these parametres includes sub-parametres as well.

The NIRF rankings are released every year, starting from the year 2016.

The rankings are usually announced in April but were delayed this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
