India’s COVID-19 count inched closer to the grim milestone of 2 lakh-mark.
India registered over 8,000 fresh cases for the third straight day.
With 8,171 fresh COVID-19 cases reported in the last 24 hours, the total number of cases in India rose to 198,706, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The number of COVID-19 related deaths rose to 5,598, nearly 2.8% of total COVID-19 patients as 204 people passed away in the last 24 hours.
The total number of active COVID-19 patients in India increased to 97,581.
On a brighter side, over 48% of coronavirus patients have been recovered from the disease so far. At least 95,527 people were cured, according to the ministry of health and family welfare.
Maharashtra, the worst-affected state by COVID-19 recorded over 2,361 fresh coronavirus patients in last 24 hours. The total confirmed cases in Maharashtra has gone up to 70,013. Maharashtra has registered a total of 2,362 deaths and 30,108 have recovered from COVID-19.
Tamil Nadu has the second-highest number of cases at 23,495. Tamil Nadu has registered a total of 184 deaths and 13,170 have recovered from COVID-19.
Coronavirus cases in Delhi stands at 20,834 cases. Delhi has recorded a total of 523 deaths so far, 8,746 have recovered from the disease.
Deaths have so far been reported from Maharashtra-2362, Gujarat-1063, Delhi-523, Madhya Pradesh-358, West Bengal-325, Uttar Pradesh-217, Rajasthan-198, Tamil Nadu-184, Telangana-88, Andhra Pradesh-64, Karnataka-52, Punjab-45, Jammu and Kashmir-31, Bihar-24, Haryana-21, Kerala-10, Odisha-7, Uttarakhand-6 Jharkhand-5, Himachal Pradesh-5, Chandigarh-4, Assam-4, Chhattisgarh-1 and Meghalaya-1.
