Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has released the list of the Top Educational Institutes of India under National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Ranking 2019 on Monday.
In the list of Best Engineering Institutions of India, IIT Guwahati has retained its 7th position with a score of (70.87) whereas, in the overall ranking, IIT Guwahati moved upwards to the 9th position with a score of (65.47) from its 12th position in 2018.
Here’s is the list of top ten Institutes of India:

3. IIT Delhi
4. IIT Bombay
5. IIT Kharagpur
6. IIT Kanpur
7. JNU
8. IIT Roorkee
9. IIT Guwahati
10. BHU
Three institutions from Assam finds its place in the list of Top 100 overall ranking, IIT Guwahati – 9th position, Tezpur University – 48th position and Gauhati University – 65th position.
In the list of Top 100 University, Tezpur University ranked 29, Gauhati University ranked 42, Dibrugarh University ranked 86 and Assam University ranked 97.
In the list of Top 200 Engineering Institutions, IIT Guwahati ranked 7 and National Institute of Technology, Silchar ranked 51.
In the list of Top 75 Pharmacy Ranking, Dibrugarh University ranked 28 and Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, Guwahati ranked 72.
In the College category, Dispur College is the only college from Assam to find its place in Top 200, it ranked under 151-200 rank-band.
According to media reports, NIRF announced its rankings under nine categories which are Overall, University, Engineering, College, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, Architecture, and Law. The list is released every year, starting from the year 2016.
President Ram Nath Kovind presented the award in a ceremony held in New Delhi on Monday.
