Several Key Decisions Taken In Assam Cabinet On July 28: Check Details

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday (July 28) chaired a cabinet meeting at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati where several key decisions were taken.

The following decisions were taken in the meeting of the Assam Council of Ministers:

1. Law and Order:

i. Headed by former Addl Chief Secretary Himangshu Sekhar Das and former DGP PV Sumant, Police Commission to be constituted for three months.

ii. The Commission will recommend measures for improvement of policing system, activities and deployment.

2. Police Recruitment:

i. Process of filling up 15,000 vacancies in police to start from September 15.

ii. Five new Assam Police battalions to be raised.

iii. 6,270 youth to be recruited.

3. Administrative Reforms:

i. Information, Public Relations, Printing & Stationery Department to be fored by merging Printing & Stationery Department and Information & Puclic Relations Department.

ii. Public Enterprises Department to be merged with Industries & Commerce Department.

iii. Passport Department to be merged with Home Department.

4. Sports Pension:

i. Monthly sports pension hiked from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000.

ii. All National & Commonwealth Games medal winners to receive sports pension.

5. Jobs for Sports Persons:

i. Grade I Govt jobs for Asian, Commonwealth and Olympics Games medal winners.

ii. Grade II Govt jobs for recognised World Championship medal winners.

iii. Grade III Govt jobs for National Games medal winners.

6. Miscellaneous:

i. Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Members of newly-constituted Autonomous Councils to receive perks on a par with counterparts of existing Autonomous Councils.

ii. Dr PLN Raju, retired director of NESAC, to be appointed as Special Secretary-cum-Director of Regional Space Application Centre.

iii. Land premium due from Sankardev Nethralaya waived.
